In               addition,               always               drain               coolant               into               a               receptacle,               and               properly               dispose               of               it.
               Locating               and               Removing               the               Thermostat
Locate               the               thermostat               beneath               the               water               neck,               which               is               located               on               top               of               your               Chevy               350               engine.

Next,               drain               all               of               the               engine               coolant               from               the               hose               that's               connected               to               the               water               neck               and               the               radiator.

Simply               loosen               the               clamp,               and               slide               it               down               the               hose               toward               the               radiator.

Be               prepared               for               additional               coolant               leaking               out               of               the               hose.

Once               the               hose               is               disconnected               from               the               water               neck,               simply               move               it               out               of               the               way.

Locate               the               two               bolts               that               hold               it               down,               and               once               you               have               located               the               bolts,               find               the               right               size               open-end               wrench,               and               begin               turning               the               bolts               counterclockwise.

               How               to               Change               the               Thermostat
After               the               water               neck               has               been               removed,               you               will               see               the               thermostat               for               your               Chevy               350               engine.

Remove               the               thermostat,               and               change               it               by               replacing               it               with               a               new               one               specifically               for               your               Chevy               350               engine.

Once               the               new               thermostat               is               in               place,               put               the               water               neck               back               on,               and               tighten               the               bolts.

Reconnect               the               hose,               put               the               clamp               back               in               place,               and               tighten               it               securely.
Lastly,               remove               the               radiator               cap,               start               the               engine,               and               allow               it               to               heat               up               to               running               temperature               which               is               about               160               degrees               Fahrenheit.

This               will               cause               any               air               bubbles               in               the               hose               or               engine               to               be               release               from               the               radiator               and               the               engine.

Once               no               more               air               bubbles               are               visible,               replace               the               radiator               cap,               and               fill               the               radiator               tank.

By               now               the               engine               should               have               warmed               up               enough               to               cause               the               electric               fan               to               come               on.

The               temperature               should               go               down,               and               you'll               see               that               the               new               thermostat               in               your               Chevy               350               engine               is               operating               as               it               should.

You'll               be               happy               you               decided               to               change               it               yourself!
