About 'car window regulator'-How to Fix a Stuck Electric Window on a Car?
I own a beautiful 2002 Grand Jeep Cherokee Limited. It has all the bells and whistles like full leather seats, sun/moon roof, 10-disc cod changer, ECT. But some things you should know about this fabulous car before you even think of buying any kind of Jeep. Don't ever take your jeep in to the dealer and let them know that your air-conditioning is not working or they will tear your dashboard apart and put it back together wrong so that you have a nice puddle on the passenger floor because they didn't assemble it back right and the air-conditioning is draining onto my floor board. Ok so that took about a week to get fixed. Another month for the smell of wet dog floor to air out. You would think this is a Jeep. Its supposed to be able to 4 wheel drive almost anywhere, but don't ever try to drive it through some kind of puddle. I did this once and it actually seized my engine. It is also quite disturbing to see your jeep sitting half in a puddle seized when there are crappy old Chevy Buick's driving through the exact same puddle I drove through make it fine. How a nice drive to the beach quickly turned into a $7,000.00 adventure. Now I don't blame all my Jeep problems on jeep but their service center as well. I always take my jeep to the authorized jeep mechanic. This seemed to be a large problem when it took about a month for the parts to be ordered and finally fixed. That's a month of me calling them and asking if the parts were ordered and being told of "course we ordered the parts". So what was told to me as a week turned into a month. All right so now I'm pissed at this dealership for keeping my car for way to long because someone forgot to order parts for my car even after I kept calling to be sure. Some kind of customer service! Finally I get my car back and I'm driving it home the 15 miles to my house and what should happen but as I am turning onto my street the entire car shuts down. I pull with all my might over to the side of the road and open the hood. There is a hose that is just hanging there which should be attached to my radiator. Someone's got hell to pay and at this point sounds like the dealer is cutting a couple thousand of my repair bill for almost seizing my brand new engine. What a nightmare! Of course this all sounds like I've got a bad repair center and I vow to never take my car to them again. My car seems to be behaving now and I am happy until I decide to roll my window up one day and my entire window falls in to the door. So this starts my new look of duct tape plastering my window shut. I decided to at least call the horrible jeep dealer to ask about the price of a new window regulator, which seems to be my problem this time and they quote me at $325.00 for the part. This does not include the labor to replace it. So I decide to stick with my vow on never going to this dealer again and looked online for a window regulator. To my surprise I was able to find one for $100.00 and quickly placed my order. I then did all my homework on how I was going to replace this bugger by myself and found that there are many unhappy jeep owners that have this very same problem as well as the air-conditioning problem, and oh yeah also my same brake rotor problem which I haven't even mentioned. Anyway I was able to find some directions on a jeep forum that was mostly for complaints about all kinds of things not working. Window falling into your door being quite common. I was able to replace this part in my jeep with no problem. So then I'm wondering if one window did this when will the next one go? Well not but a few months later and here I am again sporting the cool duct tape look on my passenger window. Now awaiting the part so I can repair this again by myself. Unfortunately as much as I love the look of my jeep, I will never ever ever buy another jeep. I really don't have the time to be sending my car in to be fixed all time. It has turned out to be more high maintenance than I am. |
