About 'blower motor resistor'-What Is a Blower Motor
Open the passenger door on the 300M. Remove the floor vent tube mounting clip, by pulling out the middle of the clip with a flat-head screwdriver. Remove the floor vent tube from beneath the blower motor assembly. Remove the fastening screws from the blower motor resistor, which is located near the firewall, just to the left of the blower motor. Use a ratchet and a socket to remove the hex-head screws. Remove the blower motor resistor vertically from the HVAC console. Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the old resistor, using a flat-head screwdriver to gently release the locking clips if needed. Install the blower motor resistor wiring on the new resistor prior to installing it into the console. Turn the ignition key to the accessories "II" position, and turn the blower motor fan dial and temperature control panel. Make sure the fan speed adjusts according to your new resistor. Set the temperature to "Auto" and set the temperature to the "hi" or "low" point, using the arrow keys. Make sure the blower motor works with both automatic and manual controls. If the blower motor still remains at a single speed, you may have an electrical short in your HVAC system. Install the new resistor into the HVAC console, and start threading the screws a couple of threads. You may need to remove the socket from your ratchet to turn the screws, because there is very limited finger space beneath the entire HVAC console. Install the floor vent tube into the mounting hole in the HVAC console, beneath the center of the dashboard. Install the single fastener clip, and push the center of clip inward to lock the clip. |
