About 'window lift motor'-What Is the Definition of Bummer








The               Glenspean               Lodge               is               a               small               luxury               hotel               that               was               originally               a               hunting               lodge               for               the               rich               and               famous               in               the               Scottish               highlands.

According               to               the               hotel               website,               it               was               once               part               of               a               large               estate               owned               by               Laird               Macintosh               of               Macintosh,               whose               portrait               hangs               prominently               in               the               hotel               lobby.

During               the               1920's               and               1930's               the               hunting               lodge               was               visited               by               many               well-known               people,               including               King               Edward               VII.

Nowadays               it               is               part               of               the               Best               Western               Hotel               chain,               but               it               is               certainly               not               a               cookie               cutter               property.

It               is               about               12               miles               outside               Fort               William               proper               and               accessible               only               by               motor               vehicle.

Fort               William               is               the               "gateway               to               the               highlands"               and               the               jumping               off               point               for               the               Jacobite               Steam               Train               (also               known               as               the               Harry               Potter               train,               since               it               was               made               famous               in               the               Harry               Potter               films).

Fort               William               is               also               at               the               foot               of               Scotland's               highest               peak               and               a               popular               site               for               hiking               and               skiing-Ben               Nevis.
               Hunting               Lodge               Atmosphere
               The               Lodge               oozes               with               atmosphere,               from               the               crunchy               gravel               driveway               to               the               landscaped               grounds,               the               elegant               lobby,               grand               staircase,               and               fourteen               tastefully               decorated               rooms-each               with               en               suite               facilities.

Our               double               room               had               cream-colored               French               provincial               furniture,               a               window               seat,               and               a               spectacular               view               of               Ben               Nevis.

And               unlike               any               other               hotel               room               we               had               experienced               on               the               trip,               it               was               huge.

The               bed               was               large               and               very               comfortable.

Our               twin               room               was               around               the               corner,               had               only               a               small               window               with               minimal               view               and               was               right               over               the               kitchen.
               The               hotel               website               notes               that               each               room               is               unique,               including               a               turret               room,               several               four               poster               rooms,               and               the               Braveheart               Suite               (an               homage               to               the               Mel               Gibson               movie               filmed               nearby).

When               Edward               VII               stayed               there,               it               must               have               had               a               different               label.
               In               the               lobby,               bar               and               less               formal               restaurant,               dark               wood               and               rich               fabrics               dominate.

The               hunting               lodge               theme               extended               to               some               stuffed               birds               in               glass               cases,               which               I               tried               to               ignore.

The               lodge               prides               itself               on               local               foods               and               has               won               awards.

We               ate               there               only               once               under               rushed               circumstances               so               I               do               not               feel               able               to               comment               on               the               food.

In               fact               we               never               ate               in               the               award-winning               Nevis               View               Restaurant,               which               was               grand,               elegant,               and               empty,               even               on               a               Saturday               evening               in               peak               tourist               season               with               the               hotel               fully               booked.

That               was               a               mystery.
               Other               Amenities
               The               hotel               advertises               itself               as               a               venue               for               weddings               and               receptions               and               indeed               it               would               be               an               atmospheric               backdrop               for               a               Scottish               wedding               with               kilts               and               a               bagpiper.

The               size               of               the               hotel               would               be               perfect               for               housing               the               wedding               party.
               The               hotel               also               has               a               "snookers               room"               (billiards),               a               sauna               and               hot               tub,               and               a               small               fitness               center.

We               did               not               actually               use               any               of               those               facilities.
               One               of               the               few               weaknesses               of               this               hotel               was               the               lack               of               any               elevator               or               lift.

A               person               unable               to               climb               stairs               could               not               be               accommodated.

(I               asked               about               this               and               was               told               it               would               be               prohibitively               expensive               to               retrofit               this               hunting               lodge               with               an               elevator.)
               Service               was               excellent               throughout               our               stay.

It               almost               felt               like               visiting               someone's               (large)               private               home.
               I               would               love               to               stay               at               this               hotel               again               some               day.

If               you               are               in               this               vicinity               and               have               a               rental               car,               you               should               consider               staying               at               the               Glenspean               Lodge.

    About 'fan motor'-How does a blower motor resistor work








    Remember               when               you               first               installed               your               "ultra               quiet"               Bathroom               fan?

    You               could               barely               hear               it               whisk               away               moist               air               and               odor,               right?

    Fast               forward               a               year               or               two               and               your               fan               is               probably               as               loud               as               the               box               fan               you               grew               up               with               as               a               child.

    Don't               worry.

    There               are               two               very               simple               methods               of               cleaning               out               your               old,               noisy               bathroom               fan               that               could               possibly               present               an               alternative               to               replacement.

    One               is               very               easy.

    The               second               is               a               bit               more               tricky.

    Very               Easy
                   Both               of               these               methods               for               cleaning               the               bathroom               fan               involve               removing               the               decorative               plastic               shroud               covering               the               motor               of               your               fan.

    There               are               only               two               or               three               ways               these               are               manufactured.

    Remove               the               shroud               by               prying               the               shroud               (at               one               of               the               corners)               away               from               the               ceiling.

    At               this               point,               you'll               see               how               the               shroud               is               attached               to               the               metal               motor               housing.

    After               removal               of               the               shroud,               place               the               plastic               shroud               into               a               5               gallon               bucket               of               water               mixed               with               either               vinegar               or               ammonia.
                   Assess               how               dirty               your               bathroom               fan               is               by               peering               into               the               metal               motor               housing.

    Along               with               common               dust               and               dirt,               you               could               also               see               excess               oil               and               grime               from               the               moving               parts               of               the               fan.

    Clean               out               all               loose               dust               and               dirt               with               a               standard               garage               or               house               vacuum.

    If               your               fan               is               located               directly               above               your               bathtub,               take               the               necessary               safety               precautions               to               avoid               shock.

    After               the               dust               is               removed,               clean               the               oil               around               the               motor               with               at               paper               towel               or               q-tips.


                   Insert               the               plastic               fan               shroud               back               onto               the               metal               housing               and               turn               the               bathroom               fan               on.

    In               most               cases,               this               simple               task               will               make               a               noticeable               improvement.
                   Moderately               Easy
                   Another               method               to               clean               your               noisy               bathroom               fan               includes               many               of               the               steps               taken               in               the               first               example               above.

    This               time,               take               an               additional               step               by               removing               the               motor               from               the               housing.

    Before               attempting               this               repair               yourself,               assess               your               comfort               and               skill               level.

    If               necessary,               contact               a               local               contractor               to               assist               you.
                   To               remove               and               clean               your               bathroom               fan               motor,               remove               the               two               or               three               screws               holding               the               motor               to               the               metal               housing.

    With               the               bathroom               fan               switch               turned               off               and               the               circuit               breaker               for               the               fan               off,               separate               the               electrical               connection               within               the               housing               to               the               motor.

    At               this               point,               the               motor               should               easily               exit               the               metal               housing.
                   Take               the               motor               into               your               garage               or               basement.

    If               you               have               an               air               compressor               with               a               blower               attachment,               use               it               to               blow               compressed               air               into               the               copper               coils               of               the               motor               and               the               outer               motor               shroud.

    If               you               don't               have               a               air               compressor,               a               vacuum               cleaner               will               work               just               fine.

    After               a               thorough               cleaning,               insert               back               into               the               motor               housing.

    Before               turning               the               circuit               breaker               on,               make               sure               to               double-check               your               electrical               connections               for               accuracy.

    Replace               the               plastic               shroud               and               turn               fan               on.
                   Even               if               you               perform               these               tasks,               you               might               find               that               replacing               your               fan               motor               is               inevitable.

    More               often               than               not,               cleaning               your               noisy               bathroom               fan               using               these               methods               will               either               prevent               replacement               or               extend               your               bathroom               fan               motor               by               several               months               or               years.

    About 'electric motors'-How do Electric Motors Work?








    W               &               W               Electric               is               now               one               of               the               largest               service               and               distribution               facilities               in               Wisconsin               for               the               electric               motors               and               industrial               controls.

    Our               family               business               was               founded               in               948               and               are               on               our               third               generation.

    The               founders,               Carl               and               Marilyn               E.

    Wojahn,               are               retired               and               three               of               their               sons               took               it               over;               Ted,               Bill,               and               Keith.

    Since               then               it               has               grown               more,               and               now               the               business               is               owned               and               operated               by               Bill,               Keith,               Steve               and               Jeff               Wojahn.

    It               is               going               into               a               third               generation               of               ownership,               with               Steve               and               Jeff               Wojahn,               grandsons               of               Carl               and               Marilyn               being               involved.
                   Their               three               locations               are               in               Oshkosh,               WI               which               is               our               corporate               headquarters               electronic               repair               facility               and               main               warehouse.

    Fond               du               Lac,               WI               is               our               main               mechanical               service               facility               and               machine               shop               while               Waupun               ,               is               a               service               facility               and               sales               office.

    We               are               a               member               of               the               Electrical               Apparatus               Service               Assn.

    and               Marilyn               E.

    Wojahn:               Founders
                   W               &               W               Electric,               Inc,               began               in               1948,               while               Carl               H.

    Wojahn               was               working               at               the               Timken               Oil               Burner               Plant;               an               addition               to               the               Wisconsin               Axle.

    As               a               foreman               and               chief               inspector               he               would               inspect               small               motors               and               parts               for               oil               burner               units.

    The               service               manager,               Frank               Buelow,at               Speed               Queen               asked               him               to               look               at               a               damaged               washing               machine               motor               and               he               had               it               fixed               the               next               day.
                   He               was               given               a               few               more               motors,               and               so               it               continued               until               it               got               to               be               forty               or               fifty               motors               every               few               weeks.

    At               first,               Carl               would               use               the               kitchen               stove               to               bake               motors               in,               until               he               set               an               oven               out               in               the               garage.

    After               the               small               motors               were               repaired,               they               were               painted               and               sent               back               to               Speed               Queen.

    Soon               he               decided               to               leave               the               Axle               and               Oil               Burner               Plant.

    This               was               quite               a               decision               to               make               because               he               would               be               leaving               a               supervisor               job,               give               up               his               annuity,               and               leaving               a               secure               job               for               a               business               of               his               own.
                   It               was               in               October               of               1948               that               Carl               H.

    and               Marilyn               E.

    Wojahn               went               into               business,               and               decided               to               call               it               W               &               W               Electric               Motor               Service.

    From               then               on               it               has               grown,               and               now               there               are               three               shops;               in               Fond               du               Lac,               Waupun,               and               Oshkosh,               Wisconsin.
                   I               won't               forget               the               nights               and               days               Dad               worked,               even               on               the               weekends.

    There               were               challenges               that               they               faced,               and               Carl               and               Marilyn               would               face               them               together.

    My               Mom               would               not               only               rewind               motors,               do               bookkeeping,               and               take               care               of               their               seven               children.

    They               were               a               team,               they               are               a               team,               and               that               is               why               they               can               leave               this               legacy               to               three               of               their               sons.

    Now               the               grandsons               are               taking               over,               each               generation               keeping               the               same               values               that               this               company               was               founded               on.

    The               name               has               changed               a               little               bit               and               is               now               called               W               &               W               Electric               Motors,               Inc.
                   This               company               can               serve               your               every               need...with               dedication               and               family               values

    Real               Time               Strategy               (RTS)               gaming               as               a               genre               was               made               popular               by               the               original               Command               &               Conquer,               Dune               2,               and               of               course               Blizzard's               mega               popular               WarCraft               &               StarCraft               series.

    Typical               mouse               centric               game               play               is               based               on               trying               to               balance               available               resources,               unit               management,               construction,               and               combat.

    RTS               games               usually               are               at               their               best               when               played               across               the               internet               or               home               network               against               a               friend,               some               even               offer               a               compelling               single               player               experience.

    Since               this               series               deals               exclusively               with               open               source               games.

    Here               are               the               contenders               for               best               open               and               free               RTS.

    Lets               get               clicking.
                   Dark               Oberon
                   Claymation               RTS,               need               I               say               more?

    In               Dark               Oberon,               adorably               cute               hand               crafted               units               follow               the               standard               RTS               conventions               in               a               surprisingly               enjoyable               game.

    The               game               could               use               a               few               more               units,               but               is               great               fun               to               play.

    The               sound               effects               are               witty,               and               the               beautiful               music               is               non               intrusive.

    Linux               users               can               download               an               older               binary               version               or               compile               from               the               source               code.
                   Glest
                   Magic               vs               Technology               3d               RTS,               Teams               can               choose               to               be               tech               based               or               magic               based.

    Play               against               humans               or               AI.

    Glest               has               a               nice               soundtrack               and               voice               sound               effects.

    Unique               units               with               multiple               attacks               makes               battles               interesting               to               be               a               part               of.

    All               in               all,               Glest               is               a               very               polished               game               that               gets               better               with               every               release.

                   Globulation               2
                   Using               simple               and               cute               units,               Globulation               boils               all               of               the               real               time               strategy               down               to               a               simpler               control               system.

    Globulation               tries               to               ease               the               pain               of               ordering               unit               to               do               resource               gathering.

    As               a               matter               of               fact,               they               have               eliminated               giving               orders               completely.

    Placement               of               buildings               and               flags               control               the               blob's               actions.

    This               tweak               in               RTS               gameplay               mechanics               is               frustrating               until               you               understand               how               it               works.

    Units               eat               when               they               are               hungry,               which               is               often.

    (You               will               almost               certainly               find               yourself               calling               the               globs               disparaging               names               your               overweight               aunt               sometimes               hears               at               the               lunch               counter.)               Globulation               isn't               what               I'd               call               graphically               impressive,               despite               this               it               is               worth               a               look               for               any               RTS               fan.
                   BOS               Wars
                   BOS               Wars               began               as               a               replacement               engine               (Stratagus)               for               the               Warcraft               RTS               series.

    Stratagus               has               since               merged               with               its               biggest               mod               BOS               wars.

    BOS               stands               for               Battle               Of               Survival,               which               is               a               perfectly               apt               name.

    Survival               is               your               goal.

    Using               engineers               and               an               array               of               vehicles,               you               must               stomp               out               your               opponent               or               find               yourself               ground               into               the               dirt               by               them.

    Notable               for               its               missle               launchers               and               unique               economy               BOS               Wars               is               definitely               worth               a               download,               grab               the               latest               release               from               here.
                   Warzone               2100
                   Real               Time               warfare               with               a               challenging               and               fun               single-player               experience.

    WarZone               started               life               as               a               proprietary               game               released               in               1999.

    Freed               by               by               Pumpkin               Studios               in               2004,               it               has               been               enhanced               and               updated               by               the               community.

    I               cannot               stress               how               important               research               is               in               this               game.

    Starting               from               scratch,               after               successfully               getting               past               the               first               4               missions               only               to               find               you               will               never               be               able               to               defeat               level               5               because               you               didn't               do               enough               research,               is               a               bummer.

    The               only               thing               missing               in               this               game               are               the               original               Full               Motion               Video               cut-scenes,               you               won't               even               miss               them.

                   Spring
                   Some               time               in               the               life               of               a               video               game,               a               publisher               decides               they               are               no               longer               going               to               support               a               title               with               updates               and               enhancements.

    One               such               game,               Total               Annihilation(TA),               had               an               active               modding               user               base               which               led               the               community               to               start               the               Spring               project.

    Spring               is               an               open               source               engine               designed               to               replace               the               aging               TA               engine.

    Spring               features               full               3d               camera               movement               ,               deformable               terrain,               3d               air               combat,               full               mod               support,               and               much               more.

    Many               original               TA               mods               work               with               Spring,               as               well               as               a               few               designed               for               Spring.

    Especially               noteworthy               are               the               Star               Wars               mod               and               Kernel               Panic.

                   Command               &               Conquer
                   While               not               open               source,               it               should               be               noted               that               in               celebration               of               Command               &               Conquer's               12th               anniversary,               EA               Studios               has               released               Command               &               Conquer               Gold               as               freeware,               You               will               need               to               download               and               burn               the               2               iso               files               to               cds.

    C&C               was               one               of               the               games               that               help               defined               the               genre,               so               download               iso1               GDI               here,               iso2               NOD               here               and               see               what               all               the               fuss               was               about.

    For               you               Open               Source               purist               out               there,               the               FreeCnC               engine               can               take               away               your               guilt.
