                   What               extended               warranty               to               choose
There               are               so               many               combinations               to               make               out               of               extended               warranties               it               is               difficult               to               make               a               decision.

Here               are               a               few               criteria               I               use               when               making               my               decision.

First,               I               choose               a               plan               that               fits               my               driving               habits.

The               first               plan               the               finance               manager               presents               to               you               will               probably               be               for               84               months               and               100,000               miles               and               make               him               the               most               money.

But               what               if               you               plan               to               trade               in               two               or               three               years?

What               if               you               drive               24,000               miles               a               year?

You               don't               need               a               seven               year               extended               warranty.

Figure               out               what               your               driving               habits               are               and               ask               the               finance               manager               to               only               show               you               the               plans               that               are               in               line               with               your               parameters.

Then,               have               the               finance               manager               show               you               in               writing               what               you               receive               with               the               extended               warranty.

    Roadside               assistance?

    Car               rental?

    Travel               reimbursement?

If               you               do               not               use               these,               then               ask               he               choose               a               package               without               these               items.

There               are               usually               three               basic               packages               :               powertrain,               basic               and               comprehensive.

Powertrain               coverage               will               cover               only               the               motor,               transmission,               differential               and               transfer               case               if               it               is               a               four-wheel               drive               vehicle.

Most               manufacturers               will               cover               these               items               for               up               to               100,000               miles               so               you're               paying               for               almost               nothing.

This               is               the               coverage               I               recommend               just               because               it               is               the               most               cost               effective               and               offers               the               best               coverage.

The               coverage               is               excellent               but               the               consumer               is               paying               for               car               rental               and               travel               reimbursement               and               no               additional               coverage               for               the               the               initial               ownership               period               and               the               cost               increase               is               dramatic.
